Through all the happiness and sorrow
I guess I'd do it all again.
Live for today and not tomorrow
It's still the road that never ends.

Magitek Memory Log
Things may come, and things may go, but memories can last a lifetime.
Ciri and I in search of the portal the First to show her something new..of course I got lost, and recorded the occasion...
"There were so many crystals and the acoustics in there were amazing. I still want to know what that hexagon was for."
FRom the Crystal Caves, me made our way to The Rak'tika Greatwood. We got these just before it started to rain...
"I've never seen trees that size before! This was following up some pretty somber conversation, but you wouldn't know it at a glance."
Then, it was on to Il Mheg. The fog at night was so think we had to land and wait it out. I asked Ciri to show me happy..and these just seemed to happen...It was a wonderful night for a Moondance.
"He looks so serious so much of the time, but it's completely worth the effort to get him to smile."
Our last stop was the library within the Crystarium, the look on Ciri's face said all it needed to.

Age: Unknown
Marital Status: Partner MIA ( twin children)
AKA: Ibn, "Mountain" "Old Stormy", "Binbin"
"Yeah I knew Ibn...or rather I should say I know "of" him. You don't get to be a coliseum pit boss without knowin' the "staff". He got dumped into my lap a while ago..didn't know a thing, and didn't speak a word fer about a month until he got shoved into what we like to call a "last ditch' match. It was like he didn't know what was goin' on until the other guy started havin' at it. Swear to Twelve, I saw something snap in behind those weird eyes of his, and while I've only heard about these AuRa an' their tribal ways, seein' this one almost tear the other guy apart was damn near horryfin'. Accidents happen, but we try not to let the staff get too buggered up, ya know? Anyways, he showed his worth and got bought by some Lalafell who preferred to remain anonymous, an I can respect that, but there was more than just the eyes of the spectators and the money changers of what Ibn could do in that ring, lemme tell ya. Now, we didn't know his name so we gave him the one he carries now. Fittin' too.."Bladeson"..."Son of the Blade"...all the same. I hear now hes been freed though and took up making some extra Gil with the Flame as an independent..BUT..last I heard..and I hear pretty much everything when it comes to this place...he's findin' out who he is. and where he comes from..I don't envy the person 'sponsible fer dumping him here if he ever finds out...I also hear he's taken to some kinda code too. Good on 'im. I hope he finds what he's lookin' fer."

Background
An Au Ra without a past, (or at least one that he remembers), Ibn (named for his instinct with a sword and fighting ability from his peers in the arena) was unceremoniously dumped off at the front gates to Ul'dah, with nothing more than a rusted blade. Finding "work" in the Pits of Gladiatorial servitude, (also known more commonly as slave fighting) his small measure of success earned him notice from a higher authority. Serving the Flame as a new recruit and rising to the rank of Captain while learning of the traditional ways of his people from notes and others of his kind, he has taken on the personal oath to act as protector to all, more so to his fellows and reclaim all that was lost to him.Retrieved from the field of Naadam in Othard, Anza Dotharl was found barely alive by Garlean scavengers looking to make a profit from leftovers of the lost and the dead. Through back door dealings and unscrupulous black market tradespeople, Anza was transported to the west in chains, after being purchased through the East Aldenard Trading Company and bound for Ul'Dah to serve as labour in the mines. A stroke of the quill changed that, and through a poorly worded manifest, Anza was loaded into another wagon, one, not so accommodating or friendly to any being, eventually winding up being bought to participate in the underground (and very illegal) gladiator pits. Unlike the UI Tournament, slaves were used as fodder for the pits, where only the strong survived and sometimes, thrived and a Xaela combatant, sometimes, were worth their weight in gold. With no official naming convention supplied, Anza Dotharl became Ibn Sabur, ,loosely translated into the common tongue, as “bladeson” and aptly named due to his brutality and surprising skill with a sword and shield. Within the ring, Anza gained a popularity that grew, along with the pocketbooks of many who gambled upon the lives cut short.
Ibn’s “worth” soon became his escape when the underground ring of carnage was discovered and shut down, thanks to the Sultansworn. After the raid, and many arrests, the remaining survivors were freed, and Anza was taken in as a squire by a lalafell named Raimo Nanaimo, Captain, and head officer of the task force in charge of undertaking illegal slave activity. Over time, Anza (now Ibn) was exposed to a more intensive education of the west, its cultures and languages and through Raimo, combat and skills that would prepare him for his eventual future.
Much to the chagrin of his mentor, Ibn found that he could not serve a single ruling entity, his education going past what was always offered as shiny and true, learning of the less scrupulous dealings and everyday goings on within the jewelled city now travels the known lands on both a journey of self-discovery, a re-invention to what he may have once been. To date, Ibn has reverted to his true name, though still accepting of his adopted moniker. Learning some of his forgotten past, though still unsure to his origins, life has taken a whole new path, as he has taken up the mantle of leader to his own small tribe, members gained through marriage. Now, Anza, a widower with twins, carries on his geas to defend those in need, extending his reach to be the shield of the steppes, to be a role model to his children while still dealing with the disappearance of his betrothed and sister in law, fearing them to be lost to the aether.

Tribe Sabur
When a mid-sized family of the Bairon was targeted by their less than honorable Khan, the resulting conflict resulted in the liberation of said family, to reform under the Tribe Sabur banner. As the fledgling tribe set out, they found a suitable place to settle and began work to cement their place in the Steppes. During this time, the need to be able to grow and defend the tribe was paramount, and through various talks and discussions held prior, the shared vision of Tribe Sabur was enacted.
No matter the race or creed, those who find themselves without "family", alone, exiled or ex-communicated, for whatever reason, would find sanctuary, that no one would be left behind.Claiming members from various races, Tribe Sabur grows to this day under the combines leadership of Ciriqai and Ibn Sabur, expanding slowly through trade and tribal relations. While not as numerous in bodies as others, Tribe Sabur has proven to hold its own in the harsh lands of the Steppe, while showing others that there is a better way to exist, by assisting to form a far wider umbrella, reaching across the East and West.
Traditions, Structure and Economy
Tradition across the Steppes differ from Tribe to Tribe and Sabur is no different. Placing the value of family above all, the fierce sense of loyalty to one another who share the tribal name is paramount. All work together for the common goal to be self sufficient, and share with others when requested. Utilizing Western technology, the Tribe's produce and products traded within the confines of Reunion have gained some small reputation, as well as inter-tribal offers and givings. When dealing in trade, the preferred method is the bartering system, the exchange for goods and services equal. With the almighty gil being of more importance to the world outside the Steppes, and this currency exchanging hands more frequently in Reunion, the tribe also recognizes the need to be as aware in manners of finance for those looking to simply pay in coin than product.Sabur's structure is not much different from the norm in the Steppes. Khan Ibn Sabur and Khagan Ciriqai Sabur tend to the leadership roles, while gaining wise council from Bilguun Dotharl when required. No one is an island within the Tribe, and each individual brings something of value and use to one another, benefiting the whole. Name days are celebrated as a whole within the tribe, usually lasting the entire day from preparation to celebration With western influences coming into play, those times of holiday and celebration are also acknowledged, and given to celebrate as one will. It is also common for the tribe to host bonfires, to where any and all who attend, whether by choice or accident are welcomed by the fire, to tell their tales and enjoy a little Xaela hospitality. While the want and desire to be a "good neighbour" in Steppe society, make no mistake. Tribe Sabur are far from pacifists and will defend to the end what they have worked to build and grow. To make a slight against one, is to insult all. Capable fighters in their own right, the Tribe to be able to count on those of the blood to lead the charge into battle when needed. These individuals , taken into special training in the arts of war, follow an additional set of tradition, simply known as The Way, a simple geas that was born of teachings from the East and the West from various disciplines, focusing on the tribes collective sense of conscience. The one attribute that does separate Tribe Sabur from others in the Steppe, is the taking in of peoples from all the races of Eorzea. There is no distinction when one makes the decision to take the name. It should be noted, however, that those who keep thier name, are still as much part of the tribe as those that do, as individuality is prized and a core value within the tribe. Proving ones' worth through deed, and not simply word gains notoriety and honour, but most important, no one gets left behind.
